Sweet potato toast is a healthy and unique gluten-free breakfast option that you can make to switch things up. And it’s so delicious, too!
Have you tried making sweet potato toast yet? It’s one of my favorite breakfasts. There are so many ways you can top it – the options are endless.
It does take a little bit of time to make, but you can make a bunch at a time and keep them in the fridge to eat for breakfast throughout the week. All you have to do is just pop them in the toaster! Or you can heat them up on the stove if you prefer.
You can use any type of sweet potato you prefer, but I usually use Japanese sweet potato since it’s a little bit sweeter and creamier. I’m pretty much obsessed with them!
Ingredients for Sweet Potato Toast
- Sweet potato
- Avocado oil
- Toppings of choice!
My favorite topping combos:
- Nut butter and berries
- Avocado, olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, chili flakes and occasionally an egg on top
- Fresh figs and honey
- Nut butter, bananas, and cinnamon
How to Make Sweet Potato Toast:
Preheat the oven and then wash and slice the sweet potato into toast-like slices (about 1/4″ thick or so). Please be careful to not cut yourself! It helps to use a very sharp knife and go slow. Sometimes I’ll even wear an oven mitt on my hand holding the potato…ya know, juuuuust in case.
Coat each slice with a tiny bit of avocado oil, then bake in the oven and finish with a broil.
Then top with your favorite toppings!

Ingredients
- Sweet potato
- Avocado oil
- Toppings of choice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Wash and chop sweet potato into toast slices (about 1/4″ thick).
- Coat each slice lightly with avocado oil.
- Lay the slices on a baking sheet, bake for 20-25 mins, and then finish with a 5 min broil.
- Let cool a bit, then add on toppings of choice, and enjoy!
