If you’re into dark, dark chocolate like me, then you’re going to love these. Incredibly low in sugar and only sweetened with a banana and some crushed dark chocolate.

I LOOOOOOOVE dark chocolate. So much. Soooooo much. If you’re into it as much as I am and you’re trying to limit or reduce your sugar intake, these muffins are a yummy option.

The reason why these are low sugar and healthier is that they’re only sweetened with a ripe banana (my favorite natural sweetener!) and crushed dark chocolate. No other sweeteners involved!

These muffins are gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free – just be sure to use the right chocolate with no cane sugar or dairy. With these specific muffins, I used a Hu Kitchen Simple Dark Chocolate Bar crushed up. Hu Kitchen is honestly one of my favorite brands for chocolate bars – super clean ingredients (no dairy, no cane sugar, etc.) and SO DANG GOOD.

Ingredients for Low Sugar Ultra Dark Chocolate Muffins:

  • Coconut flour
  • Cacao powder
  • Eggs
  • Ripe banana
  • Almond butter (or other nut butter)
  • Baking soda
  • Dark chocolate bar (or dark chocolate chips)

How to Make Low Sugar Ultra Dark Chocolate Muffins:

Start by preheating the oven and lining a muffin pan with liners or a healthy non-stick oil like coconut oil.

Crush up half of the chocolate bar into small pieces. Save the rest of the chocolate bar for topping.

Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl, pour into muffin pan and top each muffin with some additional chocolate pieces. Feel free to add as much or as little as you want!

Bake in the oven, let cool and enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup coconut flour
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 medium ripe banana mashed
  • 2 tbsp almond butter or other nut butter of choice
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 dark chocolate bar: 1/2 of it crushed up for the mix and more for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin pan with liners or healthy non-stick oil.
  2. Crush up half of the chocolate bar into small pieces. Save the rest of the chocolate bar for topping.
  3. Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl, pour into muffin pan and top each muffin with some additional chocolate pieces. Feel free to add as much or as little as you want!
  4. Bake for 15 mins or until a toothpick comes out clean.
