You need to try making nut butter at home! All you need is a food processor!
Have you ever tried making your own nut butter? If you haven’t, then you must try. It couldn’t be more simple!
All you need is a food processor and of course your nuts of choice. You can choose to roast the nuts in the oven before you turn it into a butter, or keep them raw. I prefer to roast them as I feel like it makes for a better flavor, but it’s up to you!
You could keep it simple by choosing just one type of nut or seed, or make a fun combination! You can even add spices and sweeteners if desired, like sea salt, maple syrup, vanilla, etc. For this particular nut butter that’s pictured, I mixed a combination of just walnuts, cashews and pumpkin seeds and it was absolutely delicious!
Ingredients for Homemade Nut Butter:
- Nuts/seeds of choice
- Spices or sweeteners if desired
Not an ingredient, but you need a food processor! This is the food processor I’ve used for a while and I really love it – it’s pretty affordable and works great.
How to Make Homemade Nut Butter:
Decide on what nuts/seeds you want and if you’d like any spices or sweeteners. Then if you’d like to roast the nuts/seeds, lay them out on a pan and bake them in the oven.
Once they’re done, add them to a food processor and blend! You will have to blend for a while and each food processor will vary. Mine only took about 5 minutes, but I’ve heard some can take up to around 12 minutes or so.
Once it’s done blending and it’s reached a nut butter consistency, add any additional mix-ins if you’d like and blend again.
Then transfer to a storage container and keep it in the fridge! It can also just be left out at room temperature, but it will last much longer in the fridge.

You need to try making nut butter at home! All you need is a food processor!
- Prep Time: 15 mins
- Total Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 cups raw nuts/seeds of choice
- Spices or sweeteners of choice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Choose 3 cups of raw nuts/seeds of choice and spread them onto a baking sheet. Roast for about 10 mins or until lightly golden brown. You don’t need to roast, however I think the nut butter has a better taste when the nuts are roasted.
- Once nuts are roasted, add nuts to food processor and blend. They have to blend for a long time. Mine took only about 5 mins, but I’ve heart it can take some food processors up to 12 mins or so.
- Once it’s all done you can add additional mix-ins if you’d like (ex: sea salt, maple syrup, vanilla, etc.) but I keep mine simple.
- Transfer to a storage container and keep in the fridge (can also just be left out at room temperature but will last much longer in the fridge).
