Our Powder Room Refresh

We totally transformed the look of our small powder room with just a few simple changes.

Powder Room Transformation

At the end of last year, after being settled in our home for a year now, Cole and I decided we wanted to refresh our powder room! It’s right off the living room/kitchen/casual dining area…and for a room that was used so much (not just by us but by guests as well), it was time to give it a little bit of an update.

The best part is that we only made FOUR changes, but it created such a HUGE transformation. Here’s what we updated:

  • added wallpaper to the walls
  • replaced the bathroom vanity mirror
  • replaced the lighting on the wall
  • repainted the ceiling and sliding door (that connects to our laundry room)

The details of everything I added will be linked below!

Unfortunately, I didn’t take the best before pictures as we already started making the updates before I remembered to take most of the pics.

But here is the BEFORE:

Here are the mid-transformation photos after we added our new lighting and took down the mirror.

I didn’t particularly like the colors of the walls, the small mirror, the minty color of the door, and just the whole vibe. I wanted it to be a bit more moody, bold, and dramatic while still having a fun and cozy feel.

As you can see, we have a sliding door in our powder room that opens to our laundry room. I wanted to update the sliding door to something a little more built-in and sturdier, but unfortunately, it was a bit too pricey…so we decided to keep the door and just give it a nice paint refresh.

And after the little changes we talked about…

Here is the AFTER:

I’m super happy with how it turned out!! What do you think?!

I’m so glad we decided to add wallpaper to the space…I think it completely transforms it. We used this tropical wallpaper from Lulu + Georgia, and it looks so gorgeous in person. It also comes in a more pink-toned option that’s super cute! I love Lulu + Georgia’s wallpaper selections.

We also got rid of the ceiling wallpaper and painted it a beautiful dark green that perfectly matched the dark green in the wallpaper. The ceiling color we used was Sherwin Williams Basil. We then updated the mint color on the sliding door with a creamy color that blends in seamlessly with the wallpaper. The sliding door color is Sherwin Williams Creamy.

When purchasing a new mirror, I knew I wanted something that was tall and added height to the small room. I found this mirror from Birch Lane that was the perfect size. We purchased the 48″ x 24″ size. I love how it elevated the room.

And lastly, we added new sconces to make the space a bit more glam! Unfortunately, the room is so small that we knew the sconces wouldn’t fit on each side of the mirror. However, we decided to add them to the other walls on the side, and I think it looks great! We put up these sconces from Pottery Barn. I also have this same style of light in a floor lamp in our living room because I think it’s so fun and luxurious!

Let me know what you think of this little transformation!! This was the first project we completed in our first home and it was so fun to do! More home transformations to come!!
