I’ve made several different types of nut milk at home, but pecan milk has been my favorite for the past few months. It’s very creamy, slightly nutty but not too overwhelming, and very easy to make.

Most nuts need to be soaked before making nut milk, however, I’ve noticed that pecans are naturally soft enough that as long as you have a high-powered blender, it’s not necessary. Therefore, you can make pecan milk right on the spot if you need to! You can still soak your pecans if you wish since soaking has a lot of nutritional benefits, but it’s nice to know that it’s not required if you’re short on time.

Also, most nut milks need to be strained using a nut milk bag after blending in the blender. I usually don’t strain this pecan milk, and I think it still tastes great. You can choose to strain if you want to, but anything that quickens the process is usually my choice! If you don’t have a nut milk bag, here’s one!

I absolutely love to use this pecan milk to cook my morning oatmeal bowls in. It makes them sooo thick and creamy with the most amazing texture. I highly recommend!

Ingredients for Homemade Pecan Milk:

  • Pecans
  • Water
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: any other mix-ins (vanilla extract, dates, etc.)

I like to keep my milk simple, but you can choose to add some special mix-ins for some fun flavor. Popular options are vanilla extract and dates or maple syrup for sweetness.

How to Make Homemade Pecan Milk:

If you decide to soak your pecans, soak them in water for a few hours and just leave them on the counter. Drain and rinse.

Add the pecans to a blender along with only 2 cups of water. Blend for about a minute on high.

Then add the other 2 cups of water, sea salt, and any additional mix-ins and blend on high for another minute.

Pour into a storage container. I use this cute glass bottle to store my homemade nut milks, but you can use any container you have on hand.

Like all nut milks, it will separate over time and look weird! Just be sure to shake or mix before using it.
