Roasted Brussels Sprouts are a side dish you absolutely MUST know how to make! I usually make a big batch of brussels sprouts at least once a week because they’re just so good – they’re one of my favorite veggies!

Not to mention, they’re so healthy for you. Brussels sprouts are a member of the cruciferous family and are very high in nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber. All veggies of the cruciferous family are extremely powerful and healing and are known to be extra potent in protecting your body from cancer.

This tasty side dish really isn’t hard to make at all and you can always play around with how you cook them and try different spices and herbs to achieve different flavors (and nutritional benefits).

Ingredients for Roasted Brussels Sprouts:

  • Brussels sprouts
  • Avocado oil – this is the avocado oil that I always have in my pantry at all times. And here’s a spray version as well! This specific spray oil doesn’t use any additives or chemical propellants like most of the spray oils on the market!
  • Spices: sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and thyme

I don’t provide measurements in this recipe as you can make as much as you want and determine for yourself how many spices you’d like to add on. Personally, when I make brussels sprouts, I usually add quite a bit of spice, especially garlic powder and thyme. But it’s so important to play around in the kitchen and find what you love and what works for you!

How to Make Roasted Brussels Sprouts:

Start by preheating the oven and then wash the brussels sprouts. Chop off the bulky stem of each sprout and cut each sprout into halves or quarters.

Add sprouts to a bowl and then add some avocado oil so every sprout is lightly coated. The way I do this is just by adding a little bit then mixing, then a little bit more and mixing again, etc. until it’s all lightly coated.

Then add the spices – as much or as little as you prefer! Mix again.

Place the sprouts on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and space out the brussels from one another as much as possible. This helps them to get crispier. Sometimes I’ll use two pans because if they’re touching each other, they won’t get that perfectly crispy finish.

Bake in the oven, then finish with a broil to get them slightly crispy and burnt on top. Just be sure to watch carefully during the broiling process as they can burn quickly and easily. If you’d like to simplify the baking process, you can instead just extend the baking time and not broil at all by adding on the broiling time to the baking time. The texture may be slightly different, though.

Serve immediately and enjoy!
